A personal public-education project, drawing on construction research at Kennesaw State University. Illustrated art and voices were created with the help of AI tools.

Community Builders of Pecan Grove is a free, bilingual game for kids 8 to 14, played with a grown-up at public libraries. Kids live in a made-up Georgia town that is deciding about a data center, and practice 15 civic skills: noticing change, asking good questions, listening, checking facts, speaking up kindly and planning together. The game never takes a side.

Playtest instructions

Before it goes to families, we want to find every place where a first-time player gets lost.

1. Play at least three stops. Start with Stop 1, then pick any others on the town map.
2. If you can, try it on a phone too, and switch to Español if you read Spanish.
3. The game reads its main lines aloud, so turn your sound on or use headphones. The speaker button at the top turns the voice off.
4. Notice where you hesitated, what you could not tell, and anything that broke.
5. Use Review / Feedback in any scene. Drafts stay on this device. Ask a grown-up to review and send your note.
